Pre-K

Each classroom is led by a certified teacher and assistants that are experienced in developing and delivering a curriculum appropriate for the children in that classroom. We utilize the research-based Creative Curriculum as our guide, which is the same curriculum that many of our sending school districts have chosen for its preschools. The curriculum is comprehensive and aligned to essential early learning standards, using exploration and discovery as a way of learning. We believe that Experiential Learning is the most meaningful way of learning for young children. When children explore and experience life in a hands-on way, using all their senses, they come to learn about the world around them in a meaningful way that develops real schema, visual representations and will lead to higher level thinking skills. In addition, our preschool students participate in weekly music, art, library, and gym classes, as well as animal therapy.

Elementary School

The Center’s elementary school provides a rigorous academic program aligned with New Jersey State Learning Standards. Through a collaborative team approach, we are dedicated to providing a supportive educational and therapeutic environment to prepare children to become confident and successful learners.

Students are placed in small, structured, language-based classrooms and receive instruction from New Jersey certified teachers and assistant teachers, many of whom are pursuing a career in special education.

Each day begins with morning routines that allow everyone to review the schedule, ease transitions, and share class news. We believe that students find structure comforting and benefit from knowing what to expect at school as well as what is expected of them. Structure and support make transitions easier and help students become responsible, active participants in their own learning. Students have fun, develop self-confidence and enjoy school.

Literature activities encourage students to explore and enjoy books and stories while building expressive and receptive language skills. Our hands-on approach to teaching math encourages students to explore math concepts and learn by doing. Social studies and science are an integral part of our students’ learning experience, and provide opportunities to explore the physical and social world around us.

In addition, all students participate in weekly computer instruction, music, art, library, and gym classes, as well as animal therapy.
